The therapy

His practice is based on the work of Carl Rogers, a pioneer in Humanistic Psychotherapy.  He can also provide EMDR.

Rogers believed that we each have within us the resources to live a healthy and fulfilling life, but that these can sometimes get blocked or distorted by our personal circumstances and relationships, past and present. He said

‘It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.’

Some of the areas he works in includes;

  • trauma
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • loss and bereavement
  • anger
  • stress
  • sexual abuse
  • domestic abuse
  • relationship issues
  • suicidal thoughts and plans
  • addiction
  • self-harm
  • faith challenges
  • separation and divorce
  • loneliness
  • childhood trauma
  • illness
  • Couples counselling

EMDR

What is it?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps you process and recover from past experiences that are affecting your mental health and wellbeing.

It involves using side to side eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.

EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with traumatic memories that seem to be stuck. These can contribute to a range of mental health problems.

EMDR helps you to see things from a different perspective and relieves the symptoms that you were suffering.
